Install Console...

With the basic framework done it's time to pause on the closet's general construction and get the Console working. We're going to build a custom console with embedded industrial display and keyboard (so we can see and control the PC program - Mach3 - which is at the heart of the CNC controller). See CNConsole for details on how I built this.

Finished!

Finally, after a load of work the Closet is finally complete. Some more work needs to be done on the built-in console for sure - but it definately serves the purpose, blending the CNC milling machine away into the living room.

Also in my living room (if you look to the right in the pictures) is my heavily hacked overhead projector with an LCD screen sitting on top of it - you guessed right: a digital projector, complete with 7.1 audio (8 speakers), and air-conditioning. So not only do I have a CNC mill in my living room, but also a home theater, complete with leopard print sofa - oh so classy! Now all I need to do is get my laser router sorted out, then I will have a truly unique and complete living space. :)

Back to the plot - if you take a look at the bottom two pictures you'll see the nice "clean-room" I've built inside of the closet area, and the terrible mess that CNC milling actually produces. I wouldn't want that stuff on my carpet. There's still some cables and the E-stop is dangling about at the end of a cable at the moment, but that should all be sorted once the console is properly complete. In the meantime, my CNC lathe has been a bit neglected...
