Hello there, I'm SilverKatt, a coder / machinist / hacker. This is my machining blog where I detail
the various projects that I find myself compelled to work on. I've lurked enough on various groups and
gained a lot of insight into some really cool stuff, so now it's time I share some of the stuff I do with you.
I make no promises as to the quality or 'rightness' of what I do, I shall be the first to admit that I am a
hacker! I do what works, and work with what I have.
Fortunately this parallels reality very well, as you tend to find with machining.. sure, there will always be
those people who diamond-lap, hand-scrape and hone their projects to sub-micron accuracy. But for the rest of
us, it's "Senzeni Na!": make do with what we have!
When I first got into electronics, CNC, and machining there were an awful lot of people saying it's difficult,
complex, hard, and flooding me fear / uncertainty / doubt. If you're interested, or getting into any of these
things then I hope that my blog can be an inspiration to you, and a proof that any old hacker can do it.
There may be a lot of babble and complexity, but you'll probably find we're all making it up as we go along
and dropping the odd actual fact in there! I hope also, that it'll dispell some myths and give you that little
boost you need to start or finish your own project. I know that I owe countless gratitude to all of the fantastic
people who have documented their projects and details on the web for the help they've given me.
I've written a rather nice little back-end system that lets me host pictures and files easily on my server,
as well as creating entries (the filmstrip at the top actually uses this system: I only have to name the pictures
to use and it does the rest!) So it's very easy to use and update, so please bookmark my site: there'll be lots
of updates! :) I'll probably even be adding an RSS feature when I get around to it...
