Since there's quite a lot of content around my CNC mill conversion, I thought I'd split it into sections to make it more readable and logical. Otherwise it comes out as a big mess of junk, which makes little sense except to me (and even then, perhaps not).
So here are the sections:
Converting my manual bench mill to CNC
Unpacking the new mill, removing the handles, machining pulleys to size, installing the servo motors, making the power-supply, making the electronics enclosure, limit-switches, conversion from lead-screw to ball-screw, installation of new limit switches.
Building a stealth, dust-proof enclosure Far cooler than your ordinary
closet, I needed to "disguise" my milling machine from my landlady, and also provide an environment where I can comfortably machine
without spreading swarf all over my living room. Did I mention building the controls into a "flip-up" panel in said closet? |
